Summer Fun
After a bit of cool weather a week or so ago, it’s time for the warm weather. Time to get out to the Iowa Cubs games. I tried one a couple Fridays ago and was sent home with cold wind and rain. But yesterday and Friday I was at the ballgame enjoying the outside. Unfortunately, the concessions don’t have the souvenir soda cups I like. however, I did find a plastic Mason jar-type container that I’ll have to start collecting.
Summer also means getting outside for runs. Other than walking the office dog nearly every weekday, I’ve been doing some runs. After rideshare driving yesterday was a bust, I bought a ticket to the game, then went to the football field and did the walk/jog/sprint intervals, adding five yards each time until I hit 100. I’ve done that before, and it’s a good way to get the mental discipline.
I’m done with knee treatment and I can highly recommend QC Kinetics for regenerative therapy. Yeah,, it’s expensive, but worth it for arthritis treatment. Otherwise, I’d have difficulties with taekwondo workouts or any workouts.
Still waiting to hear from the publisher on A Cold New Year. I don’t think I’ll have it in time for Bouchercon in September. No word yet on whether the publisher will take Beta. However, I have set a goal to have it contracted to some publisher or agent by year’s end or I will consider publishing it myself. It’s been too long, and the series needs to continue. Ditto with Night of Wine and Ghosts.
I’m almost finished with Parallel for the Tuesday night group (Jordan Creek, every Tuesday. Let me know if you want Zoom information). I’ll probably start on Theta next with them.
The Thursday night group (Nearwood winery south of Knoxville, every Thursday. Let me know if you want Zoom information) releases the latest Back Roads Literary Review with the Love Gone Bad theme. I have one story.
I’m several weeks behind on the Parallel reading to them.
Otherwise, I’m struggling to get through reading the printed copy of Dum Blonde. I’m pretty tired in the mornings and I need more discipline to get to sleep to be able to get up and do some reading.
However, let me break in here to say that I have been feeling better the last few weeks. I haven’t had a bout of severe fatigue in a month or so. I did sign up for a cardiologist test and am waiting to hear the results, but he thinks I’ll pass, which means the heart, except for a couple extra beats on occasion in the lower chamber—not a major problem—is not the cause of the fatigue. I have had a few times where I’ve had to power nap for twenty minutes, but those are fewer, too.
Anyway, that’s pretty much it for the writing side. I’ve gotten a little farther with the second book in the Parallel series, figuring out the outline for the second half of the story.
Keep reading the weekly book review at Brayton’s Book Buzz and check out the writing-related blogs at Brayton’s Briefs. In a couple Tuesdays, I’ll have an author interview, which I haven’t done in a while. BB will have her book review on Monday.
Until next time, get outside, enjoy the sun, and keep reading.
